On civilian narratives

Last week, Carrie Morgan, the author of The Road Back from Broken, and Kama Shockey, author of a number short stories including Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, joined Adin Dobkin for a discussion on the role of civilian narratives in the military and conflict writing space.

The two authors shared their personal experiences as civilians whose work has surrounded the recent conflicts occurring in the Middle East in addition to whether civilian narratives can offer an additional degree of objectivity to this genre. The three also discuss how truth plays a role in showing experiences outside of one’s own life.
