Debbie Gershenowitz is the W. Hodding Carter III Executive Editor at the University of North Carolina Press, where she acquires trade and academic books in US, Latin American, Caribbean, Latinx, and global history. She was senior editor for US and Latin American history at Cambridge University Press from 2012 to 2019, where she also was a founder of the journal Modern American History. Prior to that, she worked in acquisitions at NYU Press, Palgrave Macmillan, and Charles Scribner’s Sons. Debbie holds an MA and is ABD in US history with a specialization in war and society from Indiana University, where she worked as an editorial assistant on the American Historical Review.
